PSP Games - Wii Sports Resort Crosses Half Million

July 10, 2009 - Nintendo appears to have another hit on its hands with Wii Sports Resort. Following last week's impressive Japanese debut, the Game maintained enough momentum to place first this week once again, pushing it above the 500,000 mark.

There were a couple of big new releases this week as well. Sega's Hatsune Miku Project Diva, a rhythm game featuring virtual idol Hatsune Miku, debuted at second with over 100,000 units sold. Sony's latest My Summer Vacation game, My Summer Vacation 4, debuted on the PSP with 50,000 units. The casual-friendly title has now seen exactly one release across all four Sony platforms.

Here's the full top ten software chart covering June 29 through July 5.

• Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G PSP the Best (Capcom, PSP): 14,000 (776,000)
• Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (Square Enix, DS): 13,000 (492,000)
• Sloane & MacHale's Mysteries (Level-5, DS): 12,000 (168,000)
• Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono 2 (Acquire, PSP): 12,000 (50,000)
• Atelier Rorona (Gust, PS3): 11,000 (54,000)
• Infinite Space (Sega, DS): 10,000 (56,000)

In hardware, DSi and PSP continued upward trends. Wii also saw a slight boost, although the system doesn't appear to be benefiting all that much from Resort's release. Perhaps people are waiting for that black Wii.

Next week's charts will likely have a huge dropoff from number one to two thanks to Dragon Quest IX. DSi will also likely see somewhat of an explosion due both to DQIX and to the release of a new red color variation.
